Acoustic Systems

PhoneStar Lite is a midlfoor accoustic system designed for timber floors. It can be used in timber mid-floors with both an open beam construction and CLT. PhoneStar lite is capable of exceeding the G6 IIC and STC acoustic requirements whilst maintaining a small buildup (less than 21mm). Without the need to be suspended, PhoneStar Lite allows for simple specification and installation. It has been tested in New Zealand with a full range of floor coverings including timber and ceramics.

PhoneStar Lite is made up of 3 components.

• Base Layer – Decoupling Fleece: 1.4mm ⇒
• PhoneStar Tri soundproofing board: 15mm ⇒
• Top Decoupling Plate: 4mm ⇒

Airborne sound is sound passing through walls and floors caused by television, talking, or music whereas impact sound is more prevalent in second story dwellings created by footsteps, or moving furniture across the floor and transmitting through the floor.

PhoneStar Lite uses sand encased inside an engineered cardboard cell to prevent sound transmission rather than mechanical decoupling. The sand adds mass to the system and as a loose filling, helps disperse the sound waves. Its easy to install, performs well acoustically and is a cost-effective solution. PhoneStar boards are eco-friendly, made purely of sand and cardboard. 

PhoneStar Lite has been tested in New Zealand on the GBDFA 60b ceiling/floor system for easy specification however can be utilised on a wide range of different systems. Contact the Woodland Lifestyle team for test results and assistance on your specific project.
