This Queenstown Airbnb features Kuma Oak from the Zenku Creation range, bringing a refined, knot-free timber look to the space.
Why it's right for you.
Laminate
Laminate is a durable and cost-effective option that imitates the look of real timber. It has a high-density fiberboard (HDF) core, a printed decorative layer, and a tough wear layer on top for scratch resistance. Laminate is installed as a floating floor, meaning it's installed over an underlay without being glued down. It's great for living areas and bedrooms
Laminate is resistant to fading and warping, even in New Zealand's harsh sunlight. This will preserve the appearance of your flooring for years to come.
Laminate is also more durable due to the use of hardened resin and aluminium oxide.
Please note, take care to clean any spills or water quickly from the surface as prolonged exposure to water can reduce the lifespan of your flooring. Water must not sit on the surface of a laminate flooring for more than 48 hours.
Hybrid
Hybrid flooring combines the best of laminate and vinyl.
Hybrid flooring is 100% waterproof , even if the water remains on the surface for extended periods and offers better slip resistance than other flooring options.
However, in areas of direct sunlight, hybrid flooring is susceptible to fading and warping with extreme heat.
Because of its thick composite core and attached underlay, hybrid flooring offers a softer underfoot than traditional hard surfaces such as stone or tile. It's also more thermally stable, meaning it doesn't get too cold in the winter or hot in the summer, contributing to the overall comfort of your home.
Hybrid flooring is also a floating floor, making it easy to install. It works well in all areas of the home, including kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, thanks to its water resistance.
Vinyl Plank
Vinyl plank is similar to hybrid flooring with the same level of waterproofing. It can be susceptible to fading when exposed to long-term direct sunlight. However, it is more forgiving on subfloor variations and its ability to be installed without removing or undercutting skirting makes it an ideal choice for renovations. And its ability to cover large areas without transitions makes it great for commercial applications, too. Unlike hybrid and laminate, vinyl plank is glued down directly to the subfloor
Bamboo
Bamboo is the most durable natural flooring option, known for its strength and stylish timber-like appearance.
As a natural fibre, bamboo is susceptible to moisture damage, making it unsuitable for bathrooms and laundries.
