• The Difference Between High and Low-Quality Laminates: What You Need to Know

With flooring, the saying "you get what you pay for" holds its value.

High-quality laminate flooring is crafted by using multiple layers, ensuring strength, durability, and an authentic timber appearance.

Investing in a high-quality laminate ensures you will get a more durable floor that will last for years to come.

How to Identify a Quality Laminate VS Low Quality
    1. Pattern and Finish: Quality laminates have fewer pattern repeats, mimicking real timber. Look for designs with repeats as low as 1 in 20 boards. Poor quality laminates often have obvious pattern repeats, which creates an artificial look once installed.
    2. Edges/Bevels: A precision-machined micro bevel edge offers better water resistance and easier cleaning. Low-quality laminates will often have rough or uneven edges. The lack of precision-machined edges increases the risk of water damage and swelling.
    3. Thickness: Look for laminates at least 8mm thick for better performance over uneven surfaces.
    4. Durability: High-quality laminates resist fading, and scratching, and are less slippery, with standards like EN 13893 (slip resistance) and EN 14041 (anti-static). Poor laminates may not meet slip-resistance standards, making them more hazardous.
    5. Sustainability: Choose laminates with eco-friendly certifications to avoid harmful VOCs and chemicals.
